Graphic Design Pricing

Written on the 31 March 2015

It's essential to find out what you are paying for, and how. Is your designer quoting you a fixed price?  Per project?  Per hour?  How many rounds of proofs are included? Now that you have established that, ask for a list of what you will be getting for your money.  This could be a fee schedule or one quote for the program as a whole.  Before you sign the contract make sure, you understand the fees involved.  It is also wise to realise that many designers may want a percentage of the fee upfront.

Graphic design prices can range very differently.  A recent graduate starting out may charge only $25 an hour, or you could be charged $200 for a high-end design agency.  Be wary of cheap designers, as they may not possess the experience to complete your project to a high standard, or complete it at all!

Key Tip:  It may well be prudent to get an itemised quotation prior to any contract starting.  When the project is complete, you can compare what you received to what has been billed.
